What happens during a treatment?

Prior to treatment a full medical review is undertaken, and suitability for treatment assessed. Apart from certain rare medical conditions which prevent BOTOX® being given, there are several medications which should be avoided at the same time, such as anti-biotics Gentamicin and Neomycin. In addition BOTOX® should not be used in pregnancy or when breast-feeding.

The client will be asked about their areas of concern. Many people are now choosing a more natural and softer look rather than the ‘frozen look’ that some celebrities insist on. Clients often don’t tell their families and friends, but prefer to sit back and enjoy the positive comments regarding their smoother and more youthful appearance. We will work with you to achieve the look you desire.

The client will be asked to frown or smile to assess muscle movement, and to determine the injection site to achieve the best result, this is marked with a removable make-up pencil.

The procedure requires no anaesthetic, as it is effectively painless. The worst you will usually feel is a slight pricking sensation as the needle is applied. Very small amounts of BOTOX® are carefully injected into the facial muscle or muscles which is/are causing the wrinkle.

What happens after treatment?

You can return to work, or normal daily activities immediately, but will be asked to follow post treatment guidelines. These will be issued to you on a small card to take away with you.

Side effects are rare, but occasionally some clients experience bruising, but this usually fades quickly.

We recommend you return in 21 days post treatment for review, after which a top up dose may be required.

BOTOX® results

You should notice an improvement in the treated areas from 10 days to 2 weeks; some people notice it after 4 days. Results from your first treatment will last around 3 to 4 months. As it is a temporary procedure, wrinkles will begin to re-appear eventually, although they often return less severe as the muscles are trained to relax. As such, it is not uncommon for the intervals between later appointments to increase over time. However individual responses will vary.

Will my wrinkles look worse if treatment is discontinued?

No, should you choose to discontinue treatment your lines will gradually revert to their pre-treatment appearance.
